Embarrassing moments

Florencia got called up for the Waterloo U12 girls team’s last game of the season, which was last night in the beautiful town of Elora. She actually had a really good game (she even was a starter!) and contributed to the final 2-2 score. I was sitting on the parents side, which is an unusual place for me to be, but that allowed me to chat with them during the game. It was fun!

During the second half, Flor made a run towards the net and was taken down just outside the box. It was a free kick, and to my surprise, they allowed her to take it. “She might score from there!”, I thought, but I made the decision of shooting some video with my phone when it was almost too late. I nervously unlocked the phone, found the camera app and pointed the phone at Flor, trying to shoot the desired video.

The camera was pointing at me, so I got a ‘selfie’ and a video of me watching her play instead. Parents laughed at this one for a LONG time.

Florencia fue llamada para jugar para el equipo Waterloo U12 Girls anoche, en el último partido de su temporada, que se jugó en el bonito pueblo de Elora. Tuvo un muy buen partido (hasta arrancó de titular!) y contribuyó al resultado final (empate 2-2). Yo estaba sentado entre los padres, lo que es inusual para mí, pero que me perimitió charlar con ellos durante el encuentro. Fue divertido!

Durante el segundo tiempo, Flor tuvo una escapada hacia el arco y la bajaron justo fuera del área. Fue un tiro libre, y para mi sorpresa, se lo dejaron patear a ella. “Tal vez haga un gol desde ahí!”, pensé, pero no tomé la decisión de grabar la jugada en video con mi teléfono hasta que ya casi era demasiado tarde. Nervisio, desbloqueé mi celular, puse la aplicación de fotos y apunté el teléfono a Flor, para sacar el deseado video.

La cámara estaba apuntándome a mí, así que en su lugar obtuve un ‘selfie’ y un video de mí mirando cómo pateaba. Los padres se rieron de mí por un LARGO tiempo.
