Gaby had seen some signs advertising a Strawberry Festival in St. Agatha (a town nearby) and she wanted to go, so I was sad when we had to change plans and go to Toronto instead. But when we came back and I saw the festival ran until 11PM, I convinced her to go for at least a couple hours anyway. We arrived almost at 9PM and there was little activity by then, just a band playing live (and they were good!), the silent auction and a raffle. Gaby made a couple of bids, we all put a few tickets foe the raffle and then we went to watch the band.
A few minutes later, a lady came looking for Gaby to notify her that she had won a fire pit for our backyard. You should have seen Florencia, she was so happy!! She was already planning how many people she was going to invite over for .marshmallows and 'spider hot dogs'.
We went back to dancing, but a few minutes later they came looking for Gaby again! A little embarrassed, because we pretty much were the only people in there not involved with the event, she ended receiving a big piece of paper with lots of gift cards attached to it. Among them:
- A $40 certificate for a local restaurant (which we’ve already used and boy it was worth it!)
- A $25 certificate for the Meat Market
- $10 off at a pizza store
- A $50 cert for a beauty salon
- A free weekend car rental
…and some other things, for a total combined value that was way above $200. We had spent $5 or $10 in tickets, I don't remember well.
We left soon after, with lots of prices and after having had a lot of fun dancing to really good music.
I don't think we saw a single strawberry.
