(Via Dlisted.com) Don LaFontaine, also known as 'The King of Voiceovers' or 'Preview guy' in North America, passed away yesterday at the age of 68.
His voice was featured in more than 5,000 movie trailers and 350,000 commercials. If you went to a movie theatre in either USA or Canada, and watched the previews, I bet 90% of them featured La Fontaine's voice (if not more). They would all begin with either "In a world..." or "One man... one (something else)".
He was also on one of my favourite shows, Family Guy, as the Fox Announcer.
One of my frustrated (or at least postponed) dreams was to have my own radio show, or at least do the work Don did. I will surely miss his fantastic voice.
Rest in Peace, Don. As a tribute, I will leave a clip by the Chilean-American comedian Pablo Francisco.
