We had so many things lined up for this weekend that we considered using Google Calendar to make sure we wouldn't forget about anything.
On Friday, Gaby had to cater a dinner at a Community Centre and after that, we had to go to our Company's Holiday Party (we don't say "Christmas Party" anymore, even though there's a giant Christmas tree in the room and they play Christmas music non-stop, until well after dinner has been served; it seems that the only thing that might affect non-Christians is the name...) Gaby did great, and got fantastic feedback. I will write later about the party (once I get the pictures), but you already know what happened to me on my way there...
Saturday didn't look any better. We had three events at the same time, so we had to make a choice based on which we had committed to do first. Santi had a soccer game in Vaughan (near Toronto), my company was holding the Children's Chris...Holiday Party from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, and we had the Annual Turkey Dinner at church from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. We had said that Santi wasn't going to miss any games way before we knew of the other two things, so we left to Toronto at 2:00 PM on Saturday.

The kids were delighted when they saw there was a pool in the hotel, but thought "we didn't bring our bathing suits!" They didn't, but we did, so we all went to the pool, and stayed there until it was time to go to the soccer field. Santi and Juan also liked the gym very much, and even went on the treadmill.
The drive to the field was difficult, because it was snowing more and more. Still, we made it in time, and Santi went to change his clothes. I finally turned on my cell phone (it had been dead all day, until I charged it in the car) and found the message saying that the game had been canceled... We had gone there for nothing.

Gaby got up at 6:00 and left to pick up her mom at the airport. She would come and wake up the kids to give them yet another surprise. At least that part worked out well! We had breakfast at the hotel and were finally able to leave at 10:00 AM. We first called the church, because we knew we weren't going to be there in time. I didn't have to sing, but Gaby was supposed to be in charge of counting the money.

We arrived back home past noon, and I started to shovel, because there was so much snow that the car couldn't pull in the driveway. We were received by three of our neighbours, who said that the door of our balcony had been wide open all afternoon yesterday, and one of them had to climb on top of the garage and jump in there to close it. I could picture my kids making snow angels in the living room, but miraculously, they managed to shut the door before the storm hit Waterloo, so lucky us! Of course, we didn't go anywhere else after that.
So, in summary:
- Dinner catered by Gaby on Friday: OK
- Company's Chr...Holiday Party on Friday: OK (but more to follow)
- Company's Kids Party on Saturday: Missed
- Turkey Dinner on Saturday: Missed
- Soccer game on Saturday evening: Cancelled
- Church service on Sunday morning: Missed
- Soccer practice on Sunday afternoon: Cancelled

Definitivamente uno debe acostumbrarse a que con este clima no siempre se hace lo que queremos... solo lo que se puede.. Saludos!!!

Tulip, me encantó tu frase. Y sí, evidentemente se hace lo que se puede. Esa ha sido mi vida desde que tuvimos chicos...
