21/Sep/2014 – Catalina (6)

We were having lunch at a restaurant with my brother Sebastián and his family. The place had a playground in the back, so Cata and Augusto (4) were coming and going; they would spend a few minutes jumping around and once they got too thirsty or too tired, they would come back, get something to eat or drink and back again.

Sebastián is the youngest of us six brothers, and even though he hasn’t been ‘exposed’ to his two oldest brothers a lot (Guillermo left Argentina over 25 years ago and it will be 14 years for me… next week!), he has picked up on all of our best characteristics. This means, he is a clown. He will constantly crack bad jokes or say silly things, in most cases just to see what his wife Vicky or his kids say. Exactly the same the rest of us do.

But evidently mi gorgeous niece Catalina has already caught what’s going on and she’s not very happy. After another round of comments made by her dad, she looked at me and said:

- Dad is a boob

It sounded even better in its original Spanish. I was stupefied. Before I could articulate anything to come in my brother’s –and godson’s!– defence, Cata hit the ‘Fatality’ button:

- No, really, he’s always like that. He ruins everything…

This girl is something serious…

21/Sep/2014 – Catalina (6)

Estábamos almorzando en un restaurante con mi hermano Sebastián y su familia. El lugar tenía un pelotero al fondo, así que Cata y Augusto (4) se la pasaban yendo y viniendo; saltaban y corrían un rato ahí atrás, hasta que se cansaban o les daba sed, y entonces volvían para adelante, para comer o tomar algo antes de volver a los juegos.

Sebastián es el más chico de los seis hermanos, y si bien no ha sido ‘expuesto’ tanto a sus dos hermanos mayores (Guillermo se fue de Argentina hace más de 25 años y yo voy a cumplir 14 afuera la semana que viene), ha adquirido igual algunas de nuestras mejores características. Mejor dicho, es un payaso. Está todo el tiempo haciendo chistes malos o diciendo pavadas, en la mayoría de los casos para ver qué es lo que dicen su esposa Vicky o los chicos. Lo mismo que hacemos los demás.

Pero evidentemente mi hermosa sobrina Catalina ya ha pescado qué es lo que está sucediendo y no está muy impresionada que digamos. Luego de otra tanda de comentarios hechos por su papá, me miró y me dijo:

- Mi papá es así, medio tontito

Me quedé estupefacto. Antes de que pudiera preparar una defensa de mi hermano –y ahijado!–, Cata salió con los tapones de punta y le aplicó la ‘Fatality’ a su progenitor:

- No, en serio, es siempre así. Arruina todo…

Esta chica es cosa seria, eh…
