A smile a day - #04

I will bring you a slightly different reason to start the day with a smile today. It's not a funny video, but it's certainly a moving one. It comes from the 35th Annual Kennedy Center Honors ceremony, which took place last month in Washington DC. The careers of several artists were celebrated that day, including very well known celebrities like Dustin Hoffman, David Letterman and the surviving members of the rock band Led Zeppelin.

 

In order to pay tribute to the latter, another legendary band, Heart, put on an amazing performance of what is perhaps Led Zeppelin’s signature song: “Stairway to Heaven”. With Jason Bonham in charge of the drums (he’s the son of the late John Bonham, who was the band’s original drummer), the Wilson sisters really lived up to the moment. Tears of joy can be seen on Robert Plant’s face (check at around 2:30), and the faces of John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page are self explanatory as well. The three of them enjoyed this tribute, that’s it clear.

 

I’m not a fan of this band and I probably know two or three of their songs. But I enjoyed watching this video tremendously, and I hope you do too!

 

 

Hoy les traigo una razón un poco distinta para empezar el día con una sonrisa. No es un video divertido, pero sí es uno que conmueve. Viene del 35th Annual Kennedy Center Honors, una ceremonia que se llevó a cabo el mes pasado en Washington DC. Las carreras de varios artistas fueron celebradas ese día, incluyendo celebridades bien conocidas como Dustin Hoffman, David Letterman y los miembros sobrevivientes de la banda de rock Led Zeppelin.

 

Para rendir tributo a éstos últimos, otra banda legendaria, Heart, realizó una increíble performance de lo que es tal vez la canción más representativa de Led Zeppelin: “Escalera al cielo”. Con Jason Bonham en batería (es el hijo de John Bonham, el fallecido baterista original de la banda), las hermanitas Wilson realmente estuvieron a la altura de las expectativas. Se pueden ver las lágrimas de felicidad en la cara de Robert Plant (a eso de los 2:30 de comenzado el video), y las caras de John Paul Jones y Jimmy Page también son muy gráficas. Disfrutaron todos como loco, es muy obvio.

 

No soy un fana de esta banda y no creo conocer más de dos o tres canciones. Pero me gustó muchísimo este video, y espero que a ustedes les guste también!
