Tornado

It’s Sunday and I had to work all day. In fact, it’s almost 9:00 PM and I’m still at the office (but about to leave). I had a soccer practice from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM tonight, and I was mad I was going to miss it; we have cancelled many practices in the past couple of weeks due to rain, but tonight we were practicing on artificial turf, so there was no way it was going to be cancelled!

 

But it was. There’s a HUGE thunderstorm hitting is right now, with lots of rain, and even a tornado alert. Santi got soaked, of course, and I bet we won’t have any soccer games for Caro and Juan to ref tomorrow.

 

I’m still at the office, waiting for the rain to stop, so I can go home driving, instead of swimming. This was one of the worst thunderstorms I’ve seen here, I wonder if any of my kids are scared! I remember Carolina used to be afraid of thunder when she was little (actually, she was afraid of loud noises, which included fireworks, so she would spend Christmas Eve and New Year’s under the table, covering her ears).

 

Time to get out. Wish me luck!

Es domingo y tuve que trabajar todo el día. De hecho, son casi las 9:00 PM y aún estoy en la oficina (pero ya por irme). Tenía práctica de fútbol de 7:30 PM a 9:00 PM hoy, y ya estaba enojado porque me la iba a perder; hemos cancelado muchas prácticas en las últimas dos semanas debido a la lluvia; como hoy practicábamos en césped artificial, no había forma de que hubiera que cancelar!

 

Pero hubo. En este momento hay una tormenta ENORME pegándonos, con montones de lluvia y hasta un alerta de tornado. Santi está empapado, por supuesto, y estoy seguro de que mañana ni Caro ni Juan van a tener partidos para arbitrar.

 

Aún estoy en la oficina, esperando a que pare un poquito la lluvia, así me puedo ir a casa manejando en lugar de nadando. Esta es una de las peores tormentas eléctricas que haya visto aquí, y me pregunto si alguno de los chicos se habrá asustado! Recuerdo que Carolina tenía miedo a los truenos cuando era chiquita (bueno, en realidad le tenía miedo a los ruidos fuertes, cosa que incluía los fuegos artificiales, así que se pasaba las Nochebuenas y Año Nuevos debajo de la mesa, tapándose los oídos).
