19/Mar/2011 – Carolina (14)
We were having dinner, when Gaby brought an avocado (which we call ‘paltas’ in Spanish). Carolina, not too sure about the name, asked her mother:
- Mom, these are papayas, right?
- No, they’re called paltas.
Caro then tried to save face by showing that she knew what they were and what you could make with them:
- Yeah, I know. We use them to make Guatemala
- You probably mean ‘guacamole’…
Caro started to laugh, and that’s when I finally spoke:
- Caro… I would leave it here. There’s not coming back from not being able to tell a dip from a country…

- No, nena, vos querés decir ‘guacamole’?
