The media keeps sending storm warnings (all in big red fonts), and some are probably panicking a little. I heard that the Mayor of a neighbouring city has said something like 'citizens should ensure that they have enough food for 72 hours'. Unbelievable.
We're very used to the snow here, so I wonder how bad this is really going to be. I can expect every road to have been ploughed by the time I get up tomorrow. I guess that's what my Wordless Wednesday post is going to be about...
I have said before that I don't think my kids have had a single 'snow day' since we're living in Canada. There were a couple days when schools were closed, but it was either due to freezing rain or power outages. But snow days, none. The only day in the past that would have qualified was December 23rd, 2008 and they were of course on holidays already.
Tomorrow should be their very first snow day, then. But alas: Santi is still on holidays after the exams (until Thursday) and the other three don't have school anyway (PA Day)! That only leaves me, and I had taken a lieu day for my recent trip... so none of us were going to get up early anyway! 
Los medios siguen meta mandar alertas (todos en letras rojas grandotas), y algunos ya están mostrando un poquito de pánico. Escuché que el Alcalde de una ciudad vecina dijo algo así como que 'los ciudadanos deben asegurarse de tener suficiente comida para las próximas 72 horas'. Pará un poco!!!
Estamos muy acostumbrados a la nieve, así que me pregunto qué tan malo puede llegar a ser. Hasta espero que todas las calles ya estén limpias para cuando me levante mañana. Calculo que ese será el tema de mi post de Wordless Wednesday mañana...
Ya he contado antes que creo que mis hijos nunca tuvieron un 'snow day' desde que vivimos en Canadá. Las escuelas han cerrado en un par de oportunidades, pero fue ya sea por lluvia helada o por problemas de electricidad. Ningún 'snow day'. Recuerdo que hubo un tormentón el 23 de diciembre de 2008, que definitvamente hubiera causado un snow day, pero los chicos ya estaban de vacaciones...
Mañana debiera ser el primer snow day para ellos, entonces. Pero Santi aún está de vacaciones luego de los exámenes de mitad de año (y hasta el jueves) y los otros tres no tienen escuela de todos modos (PA Day, que es algo así como capacitación docente)! El único que queda soy yo, y ya me había tomado el día en compensación por mi reciente viaje, así que ninguno tenía pensado madrugar de todos modos!
