For whatever reason, and while we were in the car, Juan and Flor were talking about our ages (that means, Gaby’s and mine). I know all kids think that their parents are older than dirt, but the conversation still worried me. At first, it was all about trying to establish which one of the two was the oldest.
- Mom is older than Daddy
- No, it’s the other way around
Then, and I don’t remember if it was because I actually asked them, they took a guess at how old we really were. We got served with numbers (55 and 53) that were exactly our ages plus 10. Unconceivable! :-)
I complained:
- Wow! Guys, that’s way more than what we actually are!
So then Florencia quickly tried to make up for the mistake:
- OK, Daddy. (To his brother) See? It was 54 and 52!
Por alguna extraña razón, y mientras estábamos en el auto, Juan y Flor se pusieron a hablar de nuestras edades (de las de Gaby y yo). Ya sé que todos los chicos piensan que sus padres son más viejos que la injusticia, pero la conversación me preocupó de todos modos. Al principio, todo se trataba de establecer quién de los dos era más viejo.
- Mami es más vieja que Papi
- No, es al revés
Después, y no recuerdo si fue porque yo les terminé preguntando, se pusieron a adivinar cuántos años teníamos en realidad. Los números que tiraron (55 y 53) eran exactamente 10 años más que nuestras edades actuales. Inconcebible! :-)
Me quejé, ofendidísimo:
- Hey! Chicos, eso es mucho más de lo que realmente tenemos!
Florencia entonces trató de enmendar el error rápidamente:
- OK, Papi. (A su hermano) Ves? Tienen 54 y 52!
