Me and Gaby normally tape all the TV shows we watch, since our weeknights are so busy (oh, and they just got busier, let me tell you). This allows us to watch three or more episodes of the same show in a row when we finally have time to sit down and relax (though Gaby will start falling asleep halfway through the second episode) :-)
This caused us not to even notice the strike that paralysed the production of our favourite shows, because we were still catching up with the older episodes. And now we are almost done with the current seasons, just a month and a little more after the finales.
It seems that these shows are making desperate efforts to keep the audiences interested, because every season finale either had a big surprise, a main character leaving or one of 'those' cliffhangers.
Let's review (WARNING! Spoilers ahead):
This caused us not to even notice the strike that paralysed the production of our favourite shows, because we were still catching up with the older episodes. And now we are almost done with the current seasons, just a month and a little more after the finales.
It seems that these shows are making desperate efforts to keep the audiences interested, because every season finale either had a big surprise, a main character leaving or one of 'those' cliffhangers.
Let's review (WARNING! Spoilers ahead):
- NCIS: A main character was killed off.
- ER: A main character was killed off (but we don't know who).
- CSI: A main character was killed off.
- CSI:Miami: A main character was -presumably- killed off.
- CSI:NY: A main character is in imminent danger (this was probably the most 'disappointing' finale).
- Law&Order: A main character left the show.
- L&O - SVU: Two main characters left the show.
- L&O - CI: Haven't finished watching this one.
- Pushing daisies: We're halfway through the inaugural season.
- Grey's Anatomy: We're one full season behind.
- Rescue me: Same as above.
- Private Practice: I haven't even watched the first season.
- Dexter: I'm almost two entire seasons behind.
And that's not all! I've heard about these other season finales:
- Sesame Street: Big Bird is killed off.
- Teletubbies: Tinky Winky left the show, is replaced by a green guy.
- The Simpsons: Lisa is having a spinoff series, they will bring another actress to play her in the original show.
- WWE Smackdown!: Edge and Undertaker face off again, then realize it was all a misunderstanding. They hug, they cry and they promise never to fight again.
- American Dad/Family Guy: They participate of the "Wife swap" TV show, but trading husbands instead. So, Stan Smith goes to live with the Griffins, and Peter with the Smiths. Nobody ever notices the difference.
- The View: The 'girls' have an interesting discussion about current events, basing their words on actual facts and having the utmost respect for each other's point of view. As a consequence, an audience members declares having learnt something because of the show. They all quit in shame.
- Rescue me: Idem.

We have the first season of Dexter on DVD if you want to borrow it. I plan on buying season 2 asap.
ReplyDeleteI like the CSI shows, too, but haven't seen them in awhile. Do you watch Criminal Minds? If you like CSI, you might like that one, too. Jessica and I are hooked.
I really like Reaper and Supernatural, and NO, it isn't for the eyecandy :)
We have watched the occasional episode of Criminal Minds, and we liked it. The problem is that we are following so many shows! And I forgot to add "ER" to the list, which we have been watching forever! :-)
ReplyDeleteRe: Dexter, don't worry. I have both seasons on DVD. I tape the shows in my PVR and then burn them onto my DVD recorder...
