I read the following in today's DiarioNecochea.

A man, who was presumed dead, moved while he was being transported to the place where visitation was going to take place. The doctors at Sanatorio Urquiza in Quilmes, Argentina, had declared him dead a few hours before.

The paramedic who realized that he was gasping for air, said "my legs are still shaking". He was the one who returned the poor man to the hospital.

I just read that PAMI (the state medical assistance program for the elderly) has promised to subsidize this low-income family. But the family never got an apology from the doctors or the hospital. Unbelievable.

Imagine the amount of money they would get if this had happened here in Canada. I bet nothing will even happen to the doctors down there.

UPDATE: I just read that he had finally pass away. In other news, they now discovered a premature baby crying in the morgue, where she had been sent after she was declared dead. The doctor heard something that sounded like a cat's meow, went to look, and held her arm. When he released it, the baby started to cry. She's recovering and her parents have named her "Brisa Milagros" (breeze miracle)... Unbelievable

Un hombre, que fue declarado muerto, se movió mientras era transportado a la sala velatoria. Los doctores del Sanatorio Urquiza en Quilmes, Argentina, lo habían declarado muerto unas horas atrás.

El camillero que descubrió al anciano tratando de respirar, dijo "todavía me tiemblan las piernas". El fue uno de los que lo llevó de vuelta al hospital.

Acabo de leer que el PAMI (Asistencia Medica estatal para los jubilados) ofreció un subsidio para esta familia, de bajos ingresos. Pero la familia nunca recibió una disculpa ni de los médicos, ni del hospital. Increíble.

Imaginen la cantidad de dinero que obtendrían si esto hubiera ocurrido aquí en Canadá. Apuesto a que nada va a pasar allí, ni siquiera a los doctores.

UPDATE: Acabo de leer que finalmente falleció. En otras noticias, descubrieron a una beba prematura llorando en la morgue, adonde había sido enviada luego de haber sido dado por muerta. El doctor escuchó algo parecido a un maullido, fue a ver, y le tomó su brazo. Cuando lo soltó, la bebé comenzó a llorar. Se está recuperando, y sus padres la han llamado Brisa Milagros. Increíble...
