Stitches

Juan had a minor accident yesterday. He fell off a trampoline -at some friend's house- and hit his head against the metal frame, thus earning a small cut just above his left eye. We had to take him to the clinic, where he got three stitches.

Juan was absolutely terrified. Not only he was scared because of what had happened, but also afraid of the needle. Luckily for him, they just froze the area using some gel, so he didn't feel a thing. But it was very hard for me and Gaby to keep a straight face while Juan was hugging us and saying things like "I will never jump on a trampoline in my entire life" with a face that only he can make.

I was mad at him, of course. He should know better. He knows I despise trampolines, they're just an invitation to injury. And even if he didn't know what I think about them, he knows that both him and Santi could get injured while playing chess (if you know them, then you will agree with me on this one).

But everything worked out OK, and he even played soccer last night. His team won 2-0, and I bet he didn't take any of his trademark headers.

Carolina's team also lived up to its expectations, losing 1-4 in a horrible game. :-)


Juan tuvo un pequeño accidente ayer. Se cayó de una cama elástica en casa de un amigo, y se golpeó la cabeza contra el armazón de metal, con lo que se corto la frente justo arriba de su ojo izquierdo. Lo tuvimos que llevar a la clínica, donde recibió tres puntos de sutura.

Juan estaba absolutamente aterrorizado. No solo tenía el susto de lo que le había pasado, sino que también porque tenía miedo a la jeringa. Por suerte para él, le aplicaron un gel anestésico, así que no sintió nada. Pero se nos hizo difícil a Gaby y a mí no reirnos mientras Juan nos abrazaba y decía cosas como "No voy a saltar en 'trampolín' nunca mas en mi vida" poniendo una cara que sólo él puede hacer.

Yo estaba enojado, por supuesto. El debería haber pensado mejor. Sabe que yo odio las camas elásticas, son una invitación a la lesión. Incluso si él no supiera lo que pienso, debería tener en cuenta que tanto él como Santi podrían lesionarse jugando al ajedrez (si los conocés, sabrás que digo la verdad acá).

Al final todo salió bien, y hasta jugó al fútbol anoche. Su equipo ganó 2 a 0, pero seguro que no cabeceó ninguna pelota...

El equipo de Carolina también respondió a las expectativas, y perdió 4-1 en un partido horrible. Son una murga... :-)
